We travel a lot during the summer and this spot was the worst! We were seated immediately and the forgotten for another 22 minutes. We heard the wait staff arguing who's table ours was. Our waiter did not know his menu as he could not tell us the ingredients for three items on the menu. He told us it was only the second day of the menu. He made waiting on us like a joke. He stated out loudly, "I wish I knew!", referring to the ingredients. He couldn't even describe what kind of fries they serve when asked.. Cashing out took way toooo long...another 15 minutes. The food tasted average. The view of the river was great. We did not see a manager during our visit.

What a hidden gem! We had the address, but our GPS kept taking us the wrong way. It's located at the intersection of Hwy A, Canyon Rd, and Hillside Dr. We checked out Yelp when we were taking a family vacation, looking for a good casual place to eat some good food. Service was great, I took the waitress's advice and ordered the Walleye dinner...best fish I've ever eaten! Prices were very reasonable and the quality of the food was good as well. The atmosphere is very "north woods", there's a big fish tank (read: the length of the entire dining room) that our 5-yr old son loved.

Our GPS and cellphones gave us the wrong directions too, but as another reviewer said it's on the corner on HWY A, Canyon Rd, and Hillside drive. We were glad we found it though because it was a great place for dinner. I ordered the breasted chicken, as many reviews and even the waitress suggested. My boyfriend ordered the pork chop which was also very good. Each dinner came with a baked potato, breadstick, and green beans. For an appetizer we ordered the cheese curds which were pretty good, nothing special. Our waitress was very nice and attentive to us even though the restaurant was very busy that night. The interior was very comforting and had a nice cabin feel. The fish tank was also pretty cool. The only bad thing was that there was a table of kids that kept running around the restaurant and kept going in and outside, but I guess that's what you should expect at most restaurants in the dells.

Terrible service, rude waiter, waited an hour for food that never came. The food might have been good but we never found out. 90 minutes should be ample time for a party of five to dine. Very disappointed that my best friend has this to remember for her Bachelorette Party.

We tried their Friday night Fish fry buffet. We were impressed, fish was great. The cole slaw was blah and the shrimp pasta was blah but broasted chicken and fish was very good. I thougt it was kind of pricey. Bloody Marys were fantastic!!!!

I have visited this restaurant twice in the past couple months. The first time was a weekday afternoon and the place wasn't too crowded. We sat at the bar and everyone enjoyed their food. All well prepared and tasty! The bar area has a nice look to it and it was enjoyable. I would give 5 stars for my first visit. My 2nd visit was on a weekend night and the place was packed Got a table with no good view and service was a bit slow. Now I realize that these things happen when crowded, however, I simply didn't enjoy my 2nd visit as much as the first. 3 stars for 2nd visit. My gf got the ribs and I got the walleye. Both were very good. I'd recommend this restaurant, just know it can be super crowded on Friday/Saturday evenings.

definitely a tourist spot, but so are most other (sparse) options in the area and the food was decent. the worst part was the wait - we were famished by the time the dishes arrived. I thought the batter on the wisconsin fish fry was decent, which had many pieces of slightly dry (seemingly frozen) flaky white fish served with chips and (too HEAVILY-)buttered vegetables. the ribs were also adequately tender and sauced but the house special of broiled chicken (fried in the oven, I think) was alright, but a little too dry. the portions are large, but the wait too long. make sure you aren't famished when you get here, as it's gonna take a while.

Who is reviewing this joint?? Because we were completely mislead! SO we will write an official review! This is a tourist trap they reel you in with the fish tanks. Do not and I repeat do not come here and this is why. 1. 15 people had 15 different entrees and every single one sucked! Seriously how do you mess up a grilled cheese. 2. Actually does there need to be a #2. 3. The wait staff was rude, drinks were empty, and if I can't drink then the food better be good. 4. Over priced. My suggestion is to stay at the water park or the river. Honestly, go to McDonalds. End of review....

My family went there just this past weekend. We visit Wisconsin Dells many times a year. Sometimes to stay, sometimes just for the afternoon/evening then go home. Kids like to visit MooseJaw whenever we're in town. I like it too but this time around, I want to eat somewhere different. I "Yelp-ed" it and trusted the people who've reviewed River's Edge Pub & Grub. When I saw "Broasted Chicken", I gotta try it. I'm from Chicago where there's plenty of good places to eat. I'd like to see if River's are good also. We're glad we tried it! My daughter and I had the broasted chicken dinner, my son had the prime rib (Special on Friday and Saturday only?), my wife had the fett. alfredo with grilled shrimp, and my Mom ordered the Mahi-mahi with mango salsa. My daughter and I loved the broasted chicken, my son loved what he ordered, my wife and my Mom liked theirs too. Food was properly seasoned. Everyone thought the food, the sides all tasted very good. We didn't order any appetizers or desserts. Our dinner plates were plenty. Place is rustic. Log cabin look/feel. Family friendly? Yes. We'll be back, River's!.. :-) I'll have the Prime Rib next.

Four stars for food and two stars for service makes three stars overall. Food: Our group ordered two broasted chicken dinner specials, two bowls of Wisconsin River chili, and a bacon cheeseburger. The chicken looked good, but I didn't try any. The chili was lukewarm and utterly devoid of any discernible flavor, but my husband and his sister seemed to like it nonetheless. My bacon cheeseburger, on the other hand, was excellent. Rivers Edge knows the secret to a good burger, that being ground chuck and a generous amount of salt. The burger alone would get five stars. Service: Unfortunately, our party of five spent two hours here, and it's not as though we were enjoying leisurely drinks or anything. The amount of time it took to get our food was inexcusable, and while our waitress agreed that things were taking way too long, she didn't seem very concerned about it or apologetic. Other: Typical "rustic" Wisconsin decor, with wood and stuffed dead things everywhere. The aquarium is really quite nice. The dining room was extremely noisy due to all of the loud children and parents talking over their loud children. The bar area, though, was much quieter. Overall: I would come back here to enjoy a burger and a few beers (they were running a 312 special on Tuesdays when I was there), ideally on the patio. But I probably wouldn't sit inside again for dinner or go with more than one or two other people.

We ate here in June of 2012. This is a local joint. You have to leave the tourist area to find it but it is worth the short drive off the main drag. The food is pub grub and it's good. My kids loved the decor and the large aquariums. You know you are in Wisconsin. Burgers, nachos, and fried food rule the menu. So, enjoy what they do best. Our waitress was great. She was helpful and hard working. The prices are reasonable and the portions are pretty large. Take my advise, skip Moose Jaw and head to the River's Edge Pub.

Now that the non-smoking law is in effect in Wisconsin, I am finally able to go to this restaurant! It only took 10 years of driving down County A every summer and seeing the sign for the catfish special on Wednesday's for me to get to go. And my oh my, was I in heaven! I don't think I've ever eaten anything so very fast! It was awesome. I was so afraid that it was going to be a tasteless frozen fillet that would be cooked to death. It was a great surprise to be served the fresh tasting fillet that was perfectly coated lightly in cornmeal and cooked to perfection. The hush puppies were a welcome surprise, too! My husband had the broasted chicken and completely raved about it. My daughter had chicken fingers, and while it's not gourmet cuisine, she finished every bite, which is rare for a 4 year old! I can't wait for the next time I'm in the Dells on a Wednesday!

food was very good. we had the cod sandwich and a patty melt. both came with very good coleslaw. our kids had chicken tenders that were pretty good too. the cheese curds were great. the best part was the wall length fish tank. we had just decided against paying 30 bucks at the dells aquarium, and this was the perfect place for lunch. the kids loved watching the fish as we ate.

  • Josh B.

Food was great and it is all about the atmosphere. They have a HUGE fish tank that is full of local catches. There is a big tree growing in the bar area and lots to look at. We had burgers that were great, the broasted chicken was so good and a very reasonable price, shrimp and steak cooked perfect and the Saturday night prime rib was cooked perfect.

The setting is riverfront, although you're not facing the river. Rustic Wisconsin restaurant with a good sized menu. Had the pizza - it passes for OK. Don't go out of your way... The pulled pork sandwich was also OK, but I did like the BBQ sauce. We also had the Italian beef and fish sandwich. All pretty good, not great. Too bad the restaurant isn't facing the river - although the atmosphere help make this pretty cool.

Casual pub with some good dishes. Further evidence that Wisconsin doesn't know what a fresh vegetable is -- or how to cook it -- but the grub is good and the service friendly. An off the main drag find, with a serene feel you won't get at all those tourist traps. Recommended.

Good food. Service was a little slow. Smoking allowed in the bar area.

THIS PLACE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE SPENT 3 DAYS IN WISCONSIN DELLS, AND EACH DAY WE TRIED TO FIND THIS PLACE, ITS HIDDEN IN THE WOODS WITH A ROAD THAT GOES NOWHERE! MY GPS COULDN'T EVEN FIND IT, AND WHEN I TYPED IT IN IT BROUGHT ME SOMEWHERE ELSE. WE FINALLY FOUND IT ON DAY 3 AND WE WALKED OUT 10 MINUTES LATER. THE WAITRESS WAS RUDE, AND NOBODY GREETED US WHEN WE CAME IN TO SEAT US. THEY JUST STARED AT US LIKE WE WERE ALIENS OR SOMETHING AND DIDN'T COME UP TO US FOR ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES. ANYWAY, I WAS AT THE WATERPARK THE DAY BEFORE AND MY TAILBONE WAS REALLY SORE FROM BUMPIN UP AND DOWN ON WATERSLIDES ALL DAY, SO I ASKED FOR A BOOTH, AND AGAIN, I GOT A DIRTY LOOK BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANYBODY SEATED IN THE BOOTH AREA. SO SHE WALKED US OVER THERE, AND ITS A HARD WOODEN BENCH, CANT EVEN CALL IT A BOOTH, AND I SAID I CANT SIT HERE IM REALLY SORE AND IT WILL HURT, SO WE WALKED OUT AND WENT SOMEWHERE ELSE. don't waste your time to come here, the huge fish tank isnt worth seeing, and the tree in the middle of the bar, is nothing special.

I come here for the Friday night fish fry. They do not have a huge selection of items on their buffet, but wht they have is good and they keep it coming. They offer a few types of fish cooked in a few different ways. They do have lake perch whichis my favorite. They also have haddock and cod, there is a shrimp pasta, fried chicken (which my son loves), mac and cheese (another favorite of my son), vegetables, and salad. There is a big fish tank at one end of the restaurant that keeps the kids entertained for a while. There is a full service bar as well. The place looks like a northwoods lodge with exposed beams made of trees and much varnished wood (it is propably polyurathane). It is located a very short drive of the main drag and I think worth visiting. This is were I go on a Friday night when I visit the Dells.

Off the beaten path, this place served decent food, with a rustic, "campfire" feel to the lodge. Far removed from the crappy food and "kitchy" gimmicks of the in-town fare, this place, while not phenominal food, has a great feel to it, is very friendly, and features some really amazing fish tanks where you can get up close and personal with locally caught fishies. ATMOSPHERE: Rustic. Log cabin themed, complete with mounted heads animals and stuffed fish. If you have kids, they'll LOVE the multiple fish tanks, including the HUGE WALL TANK, which takes up the entire back wall of the restaurant. For the older set, they have pool tables, darts, and plenty of electronic slot machines (which I'm guessing don't "pay out" for anyone but the locals). The place is nestled on a large river, and almost makes you believe their fish dishes come from just outside (they don't). Huge bar, the center of their place, and plenty of TV's, games, and eye catchers to keep your attention. FOOD: Fair. I had a steak sandwich, and my husband had a patty melt. They were well seasoned, on fresh bread, but way undercooked. We ordered "medium", and got mostly rare. The kids had chicken fingers and baby corn dogs, and were very happy with their choices. I don't think the food will win them any awards, but it's worth going out for the atmosphere, and the value for your money. SERVICE: Great. We had a very understanding server (kids were crabby and tired), and he was right on point. Drinks filled, extra napkins brought, food rushed out when ready, all without a word. Even though this is clearly a locals spot, they were very nice to us and welcomed us happily (some "local joints" in the Dells scowl at you if you dare intrude as a tourist). Happily gave him the 20% for the nice job he did. VALUE: Very good. The food is moderately priced, and portioned very large. Most options are priced between $6 - $12 for your plate, and you'll get double the food you would if you stay on the main Dells strip.

The new york steak was very good. I wasnt a huge fan of the cod fish dish. Their potatoes both fried and mashed were very good. The servers were very nice and friendly.

Shared the pulled pork and artichoke dip for lunch. Large portions, friendly attentive waitress, tasty food! Neat atmosphere

We've been going here for years. The ambience is very north woodsy with huge polished logs holding up the ceiling and gi-normous fish tanks with a variety of fresh water fishies for the client enjoyment - particularly the kidddos! The room you walk into is the bar with plenty of seating around a horseshoe shaped, polished wood drinking counter. By the way, the drinks are well made. They know what a Rob Roy is and are not afraid of a generous pour. On either side of the bar are large dining rooms with the fish tanks. On summer weekends they are jammed - best to get there early or late. For me the food is just so-so. Their specialty is broasted chicken which tastes like other broasted chicken I've had. Service is always pretty good. It's definitely worth stopping in to see the place. And for sure have a drink at the bar. Stay if you want for dinner but don't expect too much.

Came here on a whim with the family and it was fantastic every time we came here for both dinner and breakfast, friendly staff and great affordable food. Dinner I had the prime rib and was given such a amazing portion and was cooked beautifully, my mother had the fried chicken and was again cooked amazing. Breakfast has to be the best nothing overcooked and the best part is that there is no one ever there so nice to stay away from the crowds

Had the grilled Mahi Mahi on recommendation from the server. Excellent! Green Bean side omg! Even the mango salsa was fabulous!

On a recommendation from a local for the Best Pan Fried Walleye in town we were directed to The River's Edge! And boy was he right! Absolutely Best Walleye in my lifetime! My Daughter ordered the Steak and Grilled shrimp and loved it! Wife said some of best Ribs she's ever had and my Grandson woofed down the Kiddie burger meal. The atmosphere is great (Big Fish Tank is a kid pleaser!) and the property surrounding the restaurant was so nice we spent some time and took pictures. Stay AWAY from the chain restaurants and spend your hard earned money with local people that take pride in what they do! A true Gem of The Dells!

I came here this past weekend for breakfast, having never tried their breakfast before. While their breakfast menu is very basic, they do the basics very well. I have to admit, I think the hash browns here are probably among my favorites that I've ever had. Crunchy on the outside, but nice and soft on the inside, just how I like them. My eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was not too crunchy, but not limp. Last but not least, Their slice of french toast served was a nice thick Texas toast, with a dollop of whipped butter, and an overly generous amount of maple syrup for one piece of french toast. The quality in my opinion, was great. And the service was top notch. I'll be back again.

I chose this restaurant on a Saturday night trip to the Dells for my two young kids, my husband and I. I would love to say that the things were not great simply because it was a busy Saturday but I think there were a few things that wouldn't matter regardless. They really over promised and under delivered on our wait time. We tried to sit outside with the kids but were fighting flies off us like crazy to the point we stood inside (no seating for wait) with kids in our arms for nearly 45 minutes when told 25-30 would be our wait. Finding your way to this strange pool table in the middle of the restaurant is really awkward for a hostess stand. Then I have to say that the noise is unbearable. It says kid friendly on the criteria here but I couldn't even hear my child speak to me in the seat next to me and by the time we were seated and served we were there 2.5 hours. Not kid friendly in my opinion.

A little off beaten trail like others have said. For sure the north woodsey experience a tourist might be looking for up here. Better done than the places in town. Food was good and fairly priced. I'd like to try again in the summer. Oddly the bathrooms seem a little small for the size of the place. seemed like girls we're waiting all night, and it wasn't busy.

I have been coming here ever sense I was little. The foods pretty good and it has a great local flair. My friends and I showed up in a large group right before closing and the staff was great to us! They even then changed the game to our home college game for us. Great bunch of people! Also the huge fish tanks in the back are great to keep kids occupied.

A wonderful departure from the horrible food options that liter the Dells area. Cool lodge feel. Homey. Aquariums are a nice touch with groups with kids. Menu was expansive. The fried appetizers of cheese curds, green beans, and pickle slices were sampled and enjoyed. Portions here typical of good old fashioned Wisconsin Supper Club dining. Big. Value is solid. Bowl of Chili with a quart of Chili in there with garlic bread for $6. One of the few places left where you can enjoy a great quality sandwich or burger with fries for $8-9. Burger n pulled pork were very good. Steak Salad was 14 $ but good n lots of meat. Friendly service throughout. We ll return.

River's Edge is a unique experience. It's a nice change from the restaurants on the main strip of the Dells. It's got a local feel to it which I find hard to find in the Dells. My son loved looking at the fish tank in the dining room. The food is great as well. My in-laws both ordered the broasted chicken and they were impressed. I had the bacon cheeseburger and it was good. Husband ordered the turkey club and he really enjoyed it. We visited on a Friday and they had a fish fry buffet that looked decent. Our server was attentive and the food was delivered hot and as ordered. The price for 4 adults (with 2 adult beverages) was around $95. Not the cheapest place at the dells but the food is worth it. We really like this place and make sure to dine here each time we visit Wisconsin Dells.

  • Amanda C.

Bartender was really helpful and attentive to our drinks. Great scenery, too. It definitely seemed like a "locals" bar, though. (Perhaps because we went around the holidays?) The music was very much catered to the handful of regulars that were there, and as much of an open mind as I have, I can only take so much head-banger metal music. After an hour or so without a "change from the rage," we hopped over to another Dells bar. Don't go too late during the off season, either. Their kitchen stops pretty early. I'd go there again, just to see if the tone is different when it's busier.

If there was one place I wanted to eat at at when in the Dells, it was this place! Worth the trip! 6 of us came for lunch on a Friday and it was great! My husband and I had the tuna melt and cheeseburger soup. It was great! Our other friends had burgers, a rueben and pulled pork and all said it was great. I grew up in WI, hadn't been back in 10 years, but this place brought back so many good memories. It has a very fun "woodsy" feeling to it. We sat in the bar section and it had several TV's for viewing news/sports, etc. The dinner section was blocked off because it was lunch, but looked very nice.... As others mentioned, it is a little bit off the beaten path, but it still isn't far from Noahs Ark, Waterworld, etc.... Reasonably priced, good food, good service, fun atmosphere. What else could you ask for?????? I would come back!!!

  • Ryan J.

Me and my family go here often. We live locally and usually go on Sundays, we love the decor and sitting outside on the back porch. The cheese curds are delicious, everything I have had there has been good. The menu doesn't have an extreme amount of choices. Service is always good also

    (4)
  • Rebekah H.

Came her for the prime rib special one Saturday night, only had to wait about a half an hour and the prime rib was pretty good. It was a large portion and though it was a little undercooked for my liking, it was still pretty good. Service was pretty good and the bathrooms were clean although oddly placed and strange to have just a single stall for the size of the restaurant. The bar area is cool with the tree growing through it and I love the fish tank in the dining area. This is definitely a great place for families to get standard american fare, nothing too special but solid food. One negative was the lack of cleanliness on the outside, the overflowing trash cans, cigarette butts and beer cans in the front of the restaurant made eating there pretty unappealing!.... Although we still did so what does that say about us? :-)

    (3)
  • Jennifer L.

This place was a nice little find, off the beaten path. Seemed to be mostly locals here. The restaurant itself was kind of cute! Looks like a large Log Cabin (nicely done), and has several different rooms inside. They've got some customized fish tanks built into the restaurant all over, which is fun for everyone (especially the kids) to keep busy with while waiting for the food to come. The food seemed decent! I don't think I can judge it fairly because I only had a turkey/bacon sandwhich with fries. And the other 2 people I was with got the broasted chicken and said it was "ok". But they had a really nice selection on the menu. Our server was really sweet, and kept checking on us. They also had a bar, which was pretty busy! Seems Thursday night is Karaoke, so that totally kept us entertained while we ate. Dear Lord. LOL

  • Kyle C.

One of the hidden gems of the Dells. The food is always good and the rustic ambiance is actually really nice. I would highly recommend checking it out and it usually does not get too busy, unlike most of the other Dells restaurants.

  • Julie B.

I was really surprised by the quality of the food here! Salads were very high quality, the fried shrimp was perfectly cooked without too much breading, and the baked potato and green beans were yummy. We went at a very busy time, so our food did take a while, but our side salads were brought quickly and we weren't overly hungry, so it was ok. Would definitely go back!!

  • Mike D.

"A Hidden Gem" tucked behind the main drag in an otherwise over saturated downtown tourist strip. Great hardy food and drinks with a great view of the Wisconsin River. Open for breakfast ,lunch and dinner. Btw prices are reasonable, with plenty of parking and access to the River walk

I found this place using Yelp and I'm glad we did. It was a little off the beaten path (about 3 miles outside of the Dells). They have a 100 year old oak tree growing in the middle of the bar and very rustic but nice inside and out. I loved the cabins around the place. I could see another vacation to this location specifically. They have Spotted Cow on tap which is AWESOME and great fried cheese curds. I ordered the 12 oz Prime Rib (Sat night special for $17.99), the kids and my wife all ordered a variety of burger which looked great too. I highly recommend you try this place. My wife and kids (15 & 12) liked it very much too. We'd go back for sure.

We loved it! Great burgers, fries and I loved my walleye sandwich. Great beer. Only bad thing was the coleslaw. No flavor and tons of mayo. Would go back.

Came into the Dells in the off season and found this place thru the Yelp site. Nice Northwoods decor, a few good craft brews on tap. Dined on a Thursday nt. and had great service, the patty melt. Was perfect. Comes with two sides, plenty of fries, I counted 6 fish tanks. My son had the It'll. beef and he said it was great and wasn't short of the beef!

    (4)
  • Julie D.

This place has a cool lodge feel and a gigantic aquarium. We both had the fried cod sandwich with fries and slaw. It was so-so. The food reminded me of the the greasy stuff I can get back home at the 24 hour pancake houses. The slaw tastes identical to Long John Silvers. No joke!

  • Jeff R.

Found this place using Yelp and gave it a try. Went on a Friday evening and had the fish fry buffet which also included their broasted chicken. The food was good overall and the place itself reminded me of a hunting/fishing lodge. Would go back again.
